Nirmal Ashram, Mithaura

AboutThe Mithaura mission rests on 26.16 acres bequeathed in 1983 by Mr. Leslie Sushil Chandra Das for charitable use by the CST Fathers, held first through the Diocese of Varanasi; after clearing illegal occupation, the Fathers took possession of the first plot on 8 December 1987, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, naming the mission 'Nirmal' for the Ashram and 'Nirmala' for the school. A Balwadi was started for village children, and Nirmal Ashram was formally established on 25 March 1999 under Fr. Mathew Thayamkary; today 22 acres are registered with Little Flower Mission, with 12 acres under paddy and wheat. Nirmala School opened on 17 July 2006, moved into a new building in 2007 and gained U.P. Board recognition up to Intermediate in 2018, and now has 905 students and 33 staff. The Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph (Agra Province) have collaborated since 2013 from St. Mary's Convent, and Nirmala Mata Church, partly funded by Missio Munich, was consecrated on 8 September 2022.Superior Fr.
